Well done Bertie

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is celebrating his Leaving Cert results and the offer of a place at college.

Bertie got 875 points in his Leaving, including 65 points for his own C2 in Ordinary Level Agricultural Economics. The remaining 810 points were loaned to Mr Ahern by some friends, but will be repaid as soon as he has his house in order. (Not literally, of course, his house has been in order for ages.)

Bertie is congratulated on his Leaving by Jean-Claude Juncker, PM of Luxembourg. Mr Juncker is a graduate of the University of Strasbourg, and appears to spend less of his taxpayers' money on yellowy make-up than Bertie does.

Bertie had hoped to attend UCD, but the college has no record of him at all, and neither, apparently, has the London School of Economics.

Bertie will instead be starting a course in Horticulture at Blanchardstown IT.

"He's been interested in it for ages," said a Fianna Failure spokesperson, "He loves looking up trees in North Dublin. I'd say he must have looked up every one of them by now, but he doesn't really know what he's looking for so he's going to do a course."
